Loïc Dequidt
Loïc Dequidt was born in Arras, France in 1973. He started studying the piano at the age of 7. At the age of 16, he discovered Thelonious Monk through a record bought by his father and this was how his interest in jazz began. He then studied another year with a private teacher in Arras, followed by the Summer Jazz Course in Sienna, Italy (summer 1990). There he met and studied with Franco D’Andrea and Enrico Rava, who have remained two major influences ever since, as well as Paolo Fresu, Furio Di Castri, Enrico Pieranunzi, Bruno Tommaso and Claudio Fasoli.
Loïc has his own trio and quartet, and is also a part of The Opposite.
