Pappas Skägg
Pappas skägg (Daddy's beard)
The music is presented by a unique 10-piece-ensemble consisting of all of Kopasetic's musicians- featuring two saxes, two guitars, two keyboards, two drums and percussion and bass. All ten are at the same time composers and have written one movement each. They all share the interest for strong melodies, exciting sounds and intricate rhythmical shapes with improvisation as a central focus.
The starting point for the music is 10 different characters loosely based on the French series of books for children: Barbapapa. Barbapapa (a transcription of barbe à papa = daddy's beard) is "a creature with the ability to transform into almost anything". His wife and many children all have specific features, colors, hobbies etc. They discover many exciting adventures.
Mattias Hjorth is the artistic director with the role to, in collaboration with the other musicians, gently arranging and putting together the ten compositions to a higher unite.
Pappas Skägg is an adventurous and colorful suite combining musical warmth and curiosity with expressive rhythmic and and multi-dimensional spontaneity.
The project is supported by Konstnärsnämnden.
